Carnival Cruise Lines VIFP Club Loyalty Program 2024

Whether you desire adventure, luxury, or exploration, High Seas Cruising is your compass to unforgettable cruise vacations. You don’t even need to take a cruise to become a blue-tier member. In past years, the pins have always included the funnel, but have varied with different nautical touches such as stylized waves, portholes, ropes, compasses, and ship’s wheels. The 2022 design was similarly colorful, with hearts, stars, stripes, and polka dots all incorporated into the Platinum and Diamond pin.

Airline Reward Programs

So if you earn 25 points within the program but then don’t sail for a few years, you’ll still have the same point level and status as before. This is different than loyalty programs like with airlines where the points you earn often “drop off” after a length of time. If you’ve earned Gold status, then you don’t have to worry about being dropped back to Red status just because you don’t sail for a while.

Cobranded Cards

As you earn more points, you'll ascend up the ranks of various programs. The higher the level you reach, the more perks to which you'll be entitled. You can expect things like discounts, thank-you gifts, complimentary laundry, and invitations to exclusive onboard parties. The benefits are generous once you reach the Diamond level (200 cruise days or more). One of the most unique perks is a $100 donation made in your name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. When you initially sign up for the VIFP Club, you’ll be known as a “Blue Card,” a first-time Carnival cruiser.

I tried the newest ships from Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Norwegian. Here’s how they compare

It takes up to three business days after a sailing for the system to update a guest's cruise history. If you notice a discrepancy, log into your personal profile on /VIFP and submit a request form. The request form can be found at the bottom of the 'Review My Cruise History' page in the 'Manage My Cruise History' tab. Please note, Carnival cannot process requests over the phone. Please be patient, the process may take 2-3 weeks to complete.I was only a sail or two away from becoming Platinum in the previous recognition program.

Carnival’s VIFP Loyalty Program and Benefits

If a cruise is cut short for reasons beyond the control of guests, they will still earn the amount of points that they would have earned with the original itinerary. If a cruise is extended for reasons outside of guests’ control, they’ll receive points for the additional cruise days in addition to the originally scheduled days. Sail more and you’ll earn more points, putting you in a higher status level. From there, each status level comes with more benefits for your cruise. Unlike some airline rewards programs, VIFP Club points don’t expire. So, if you earn 24 points with the program, you’ll always have those points.

No matter what cabin you book onboard any of Carnival Cruise Line's ships, you will only receive one point per night. The Carnival VIFP Club is a points-based loyalty program that awards repeat cruisers with more perks the more they sail. Everyone who has already sailed with Carnival is automatically enrolled in the VIFP Club, but to view your loyalty status and other information you need to activate your account. Carnival also offers the "Milestone Rewards Program" to its VIFP members. On the 100th cruise milestone, members receive a complimentary Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska or Australia voyage of up to eight days for two people in accommodations up to the Ocean Suite level.

Even when you take a few years between cruises, you’ll keep the same points balance and status level. Even at the highest Diamond level of its VIFP Club program, Carnival still is a little stingy with the perks. Unlike Royal Caribbean and some other lines, for instance, it doesn't give members a free cruise upon reaching this pinnacle of loyalty status.

Carnival Ship Rescues 27 People Adrift at Sea in the Caribbean

The center of each pin has the classic red, white, and blue Carnival whale tail funnel on the lower right, the instantly recognizable design found on every guest’s Sail-and-Sign card. The new design is a simple circle reminiscent of a ship’s porthole, with the year and “VIFP CLUB” on the outer circle. The gold pin just says “CARNIVAL” while the Diamond and Platinum pins will have each individual ship’s name. There’s almost as much speculation about what happens to existing VIFP Club members as there is about changes to the program! When Carnival announced changes to the VIFP Club in 2012, they gave cruisers until the end of 2013 to achieve status within the then current framework. Each person must earn his or her own VIFP status through the accumulation of points awarded after completing qualifying sailings.

Do VIFP Club Points Expire, or Does the Status Level Drop?

And while 75 and 200 nights may seem like a lot to some, the reality is the program has become overcrowded. When they give out the award for Youngest Cruiser at the Platinum and Diamond Party, it regularly goes to someone under the age of 10. In fact, we recently sailed with a Diamond cruiser that was just four years old.

You earn one point for every day you cruise on a Carnival ship. Even if you’ve never cruised with Carnival before, join the club today — the benefits begin today. It should be noted that the collectible pins are in addition to other VIFP gifts, such as the trio of navy blue, red-trimmed bags that have been distributed in recent months. Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald has announced the new “Very Important Fun Person” (VIFP) club loyalty pin design for 2024, a subtle but lovely style Carnival fans are sure to appreciate. Today is the third time Heald has referenced changes to the program.

Many frequent cruisers, for example, have received the snap koozie gift several times, as it is has been available for some time. However, not all ships will have the new loyalty gifts due to delivery issues. Signing up for a Carnival website account allows you to access the line's full array of planning and booking tools. Then when you sail, you'll start picking up benefits likecollectible Carnival items, invites to members-only cocktail receptions, priority boarding and more. During the cruise, you’ll get a complimentary beverage at the Seaday Brunch. A complimentary chocolate delight will be delivered to your room on cruises for five nights or longer.

Alternatively, you can check the color of your Sail and Sign Card as the start of each cruise. Carnival rolls out the Diamond carpet for their most loyal passengers (figuratively, of course), with all of the Platinum benefits plus a host of other perks. You’ll receive a Gold VIFP pin on every cruise in addition to the Red benefits.

That said, given it’s free to join, there’s no real reason not to sign up. At the very least you can get a few freebies, while passengers that sail Carnival regularly can see some even bigger perks. So even if you are only an occasional cruiser or only sail Carnival sometimes, there’s still a reason to be a member and rack up those rewards. The biggest drawback of the VIFP Club is that true benefits don't really kick in until a member has sailed at least 75 days. Welcome to High Seas Cruising, your resource for exploring the exciting world of cruise ship travel. We provide expert advice, insightful reviews, and comprehensive guides to help seasoned and novice cruisers create their ideal sea journeys.

As you move higher in the program’s ranks, your benefits and privileges will improve. The color of your Sail & Sign card will reflect the tier that you’re on. There might be times where points don’t apply automatically or there might be cruises you took in the past that haven’t been added. From there, click on “My Cruises” and scroll down to “Claim a Past Cruise”. Enter your information about your missing cruise, and it will be reviewed to add the trip to your VIFP profile. In this case, Carnival grants passengers the higher status at the start of the cruise.
